On Wednesday, May 29th, Jared Hamilton successfully defended his ordination paper before the Essex Association of the United Church of Christ churches. Rev. Judy Proctor (First Church of Danvers ) was Moderator for the Event, Ms. Emily Knapp (First Congregational Church of Georgetown) called the roll and established the quorum. While 15 clergy from different churches and 15 delegates representing member churches was need for a quorum, there were 18 clergy and 18 churches represented. [Additional clergy and church delegates registered after the quorum was established!]
Refreshments were offered in the church narthex and different committees and individuals offered aid (and microphones!) to ensure the event was successful. The church was decorated with purple flowers.
The vote was taken after 2 hours of questioning and Jared Hamilton received the unanimous approval of the Ecclesiastical Council. Jared offered the benediction as the Council was suspending, pending a call to pastoral ministry and request for Ordination from Jared Hamilton and the First Parish Church, Congregational, United Church of Christ, Manchester-by-the Sea.
Jared Hamilton will now circulate his professional profile and be looking to receive a call to pastoral ministry. The Ecclesiastical Council marks an important landmark in the 4-year process of development toward ordination for Jared, his wife, Leah, and their two children, Camille and Simon. Our prayers are with Jared as he begins to circulate his profile and enter the interview phase of establishing his ministry.
