The Missions Committee is sponsoring a Jazz Concert benefit for the Grace Center, a day shelter in Gloucester for the homeless and people in crisis on Cape Ann. The Jazz for Joy Benefit will take place in the Church sanctuary at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 6th. Everyone in the community is invited to celebrate great music for a great cause. The tickets are $15.00 and are available through the Church Office and at the door.

The Jazz for Joy program features the exuberant Henri Smith Quartet performing New Orleans style jazz, a blend of Cajun, Creole, and blues. The Willie Sordillo Quartet will highlight Latin and jazz standards and is led by internationally renowned and┬áthree-time Boston Music Award winner alto saxophonist; Willie Sordillo. Rebecca Shrimpton, acclaimed as a “simply exquisite vocalist” by Britain’s Jazzwise magazine, and praised by All Music Guide, All About Jazz and featured on NPR/PBS concert broadcasts will perform jazz standards and her own compositions. Rebecca will be accompanied by Bonnie MacLeod, a pianist and cabaret singer who has performed in New York venues such as the Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center, Windows on the World, and the Waldorf Astoria.
