Serving the Community
First Parish Church has enjoyed an association with Wellspring House in Gloucester for more than twenty-five years. The 2013 Chili & Chowder Fest fundraiser demonstrates our strong commitment and continuing support for Wellspring’s life-changing programs.
A goal of the Missions Committee is to encourage active engagement with missions work. We hope to draw particular attention to Wellspring’s adult education rograms. These critical services thrive not only through financial support but by volunteers who can assist with tutoring, mentoring, ESL instructions and other essential training needs.
Since 1981, Wellspring House has been helping families and individuals on Cape Ann and the North Shore move out of poverty and live more fulfilling lives through adult education and job training; the provision of affordable housing; emergency shelter for homeless families; homeless prevention advocacy and services.
The Executive Director of Wellspring House, Kay O’Rourke will make a brief presentation during the Chili & Chowder Fest and be available for questions. We encourage you to learn about how Wellspring’s services embrace “Homes,
Jobs Education” and how you might use your own time and talents to volunteer.
